Don't tell me she's going to be the one that replaces Tony Stark. How is she able to build such advanced stuff without the backing of rich person funds? I call BS. With such a long movie, I wished they delved a bit more into her backstory so people that don't know her much can get acquainted with the character. All I know is she's some apparent super genius that can build scanners to detect Vibranium underwater.

Marvel is just trying to build a new team of Avengers but this time with diversity.
It was almost as if they wanted to disassociate her with Tony as much as they could while not completely denying the connection. IIRC there was a brief moment where Shuri had asked, "Is that Stark Tech?" just before the warehouse raid and that was all we got. We're pretty much left to conclude that she just happens to be a genius that used Tony's tech to build a makeshift suit.
