Seriously why would someone of Chastain's caliber and talent lower herself to do a low grade movie like this? She carries the film but everything else is mediocre and generic. Chastain deserves better.

shareShe also produced it, seems like she wanted to do it more than most roles. Didn't seem like a "low grade" movie to me--A-list actors, huge budget. Not the greatest movie of all time, but certainly not low grade.
shareYeah I don't get it. Was it great? No but it was certainly a passable action flick that actually some decent character development & heart, (Ava's father/daughter relationship with Malchovich's character, her strained relationships with her mother, her sister and ex boyfriend, along with her being a recovering alcoholic struggling with the stay on the wagon). So again not the greatest movie ever but it was enjoyable enough to hold my attention throughout and a far cry away from generic, throwaway B grade action. It held my attention and I was reasonably entertained. If there was a sequel I'd definitely consider watching it.
