Heartbreaking for Obi-wan

I think it will be pretty heartbreaking for Obi-wan to see his former friend trapped in such a monstrous suit, and being all manner of evil in front of him.

Will be interesting to see how he deals with this.

He'll use the Force to make everyone forget they met.

On that note im going to bed!

i wonder how he first sees what he looks like now? some sort of televised sith event or maybe he is sneaking around somewhere vader is at and sees him? or does he not see him in his suit until a new hope?

I wonder how well known Vader is? Is he a galactic celebrity, feared throughout the galaxy, or someone who's only known in military or governmental circles? I mean, he seems to be the Emperor's personal enforcer, not someone with an official title, and he sure as hell wouldn't feature heavily in the Emperor's mainstream propaganda. Like any good tyrant, Palpatine's mainstream propaganda would try to convince the general population that they had good and just government, and that the Emperor was protecting them from all sorts of evils, real and invented.

Obi-Wan probably took quite a long time to realize what his old pupil was up to and what he looked like, what with Sith hushing up most of their atrocities and Obi-Wan being out of touch on Tattooine much of the time. Years, I would guess.

very interesting. vader may not be famous politically but maybe obi wan overhears talk of vader during his visits to the local cantina by all the scoundrels. but as for realizing it's ani, that probably did take a while and maybe some sort of spying.

Obi-Wan would have been in touch with the Rebels, Leia knew who he was after all, but nobody knows when the Rebellion started or when Kenobi got in touch with them (stay tuned). So I'm sure he would have heard stories of Vader committing atrocities from his Rebel contracts, as well as from the Tattooine underworld and refugees who'd come to Tattooine to hide, and once he'd heard of a machined-up humanoid with Sith powers, he'd start to suspect who was under the cool black outfit.

But if Obi-Wan had any sense he'd have done his damndest to hide himself from Vader and the Emperor, they had the power of the Galactic military behind them as well as concentrated Sittiness and he couldn't win against them. Obi-Wan wasn't stupid, he knew that if he came into conflict with them then even if he could defeat them through the Force, they could defeat him by saying they'd kill the entire population of an innocent planet a day until he surrendered.

Edit: But that doesn't mean the general population of the Galaxy had any idea who Vader was.

This serie could be very interesting. Obi-Wan is for me one of the best roles in the Star Wars universe.
