I am watching the beginning of part 2. They were Catherine's favorite snack according to her dad. Has anyone ever tried them? I like sugar on my strawberries, and salt on cantaloupe, but never had sugared grapes.

Sugar was new and expensive then, a novelty and a luxury, something rich people ate too much of to show they could afford to.

So dipping your grapes in sugar then, was like putting gold leaf on your kobe beef today. More ostentatious than tasty.
