Yet they show Scrabble pieces to represent her rearranging words and even show them being dropped on a table as though she grew up playing it.

Actually, they would have been tiles from the Anagrams game which was popular in the Victorian era. Scrabble was not the first game that used letter tiles.

They played Anagrams in the Jane Austin book Emma which was written in 1815.

And sets of Anagrams or "Word Making & Word Taking" from the 19th through early 20th centuries are readily available in antique stores and on ebay.
