The Stupid Baseball Device... (Spoilers)

This annoyed me.

The signed baseball kept reappearing in ominous fashion so we all knew that it was going to have some major impact on the story.

However every time it appeared I just kept thinking why doesn't Walt just say - hey, that's our baseball, it was in the car. It's like the writers plain forgot their car was already tied to the crime but with another driver. There was absolutely no reason for Walt not to just explain that and ask for it back.

It just made the stupid coincidence of the kid being able to buy the firearm, having got the money from the baseball sale - given to him indirectly from Walt - and then ironically kill his son seem even more ridiculous and contrived.

"Walt" - haha, nice one.

I concur. The last episode and the ending in general was a horribly rushed hack job. The buildup with the baseball was disappointing - I mean Eugene could have gotten money from any other source, his cut from dealing drugs, doing a separate job for Desire (that would have shown us some character depth too, but oh well...), etc. There really was no need for that baseball to play this huge a role.

And yes, I get the ending was irony, and in a way Michael (and Adam ofc) got his comeuppance, but this was so heavy handed, and so rushed, I couldn't believe this was the same series that started out promising and kept a largely consistent quality up until the very end. Shame they couldn't do better with the conclusion...

He wanted to help the kid. That's why he agreed to buy the ball back.
