Not only does Amy Adams literally look like the grown up version of the young girl, the 'lois lane' line from It1 (from the creepy slightly Christopher Reeve looking pharmacist) gets repeated in Chapter 2 and would've worked so well/meta especially with all the movie nods going on (The Thing, The Shining, Nightmare Elm St 5, the Stephen King cameo etc) whereas with Chastain it was meaningless

I guess the director previously having worked with Chastain clouded his judgement on casting

I have the "World of IT" book, and there are pages showing the child and adult actors for the Losers side by side, and I am amazed by how similar they look. All of them, except for James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain. I guess the casting was great, but not 100% perfect.

I read on another thread Toby Maguire would've been a better fit but for whatever reasons he's fallen 'out' in Hollywood and isn't really a name now whereas McAvoy is very much 'in' as seen with lead roles in 3 major films last year

with Adams v Chastain both are pretty much level status wise actually Adams is probably the slightly bigger deal as she's got more Oscar nominations and has a major role in a superhero franchise (albeit one that has seemingly imploded)
