Hell of a movie. The subject matter is dark, but this is the best movie they've put out. His slow decline into insanity was well-paced and executed like none other. Character development was off the charts. Joaquin Phoenix deserves an Oscar for his performance.

shareDC's been all over the map. Joker is just off in another new corner, and their main actors have jumped ship. Wonder Woman was great, Aquaman was entertaining, and Batman v Superman is an underrated classic, but the rest has been a mess.

sharePhoenix was amazing and the movie was good on its own, but while it succeeded in showing the Joker's transformation from punching bag to confident psycho killer and symbol of the oppressed, it didn't drop any hints that he could ever be a criminal mastermind. They should have shown that he was brilliant, but too mentally ill and filled with doubts to succeed (at anything) until he transformed. But he seems like kind of a dope, really. Maybe he'll team up with Riddler or Penguin if he needs a mastermind.
shareThat did cross my mind at one point. There seems to be nothing to indicate he's a brilliant mastermind. Even if it comes later, which it did, how did that happen all of a sudden without any clue during the previous years we saw.
