Why can"t Japanese cinema compete with Korean?

Can’t compete, ‘cause japanese cinema is filled with overactors. It’s like they’re filming a theater piece or anime as a live-action feature film.

This artform is a big hit in Japan, think opera mixed with theater mixed with World Wrestling antics.

Much to strange for American audiences,this taste leaks into their movie form.

But you should still see 'Seven Samurai' (1954)

From my broad experience with Korean media (this film, and "Last train to Busan", lol), I come away with the impression that Korean culture is kind of more westernized and less rigid than Japanese culture.

I think this gives Korean films maybe more accessibility to Western audiences since the culture itself has more Western influences and is thus more comprehendible.

Because Japanese "cinema" is infatuated with anime bullshit. As someone pointed out it is filled with overactors, it just feels unnatural.

Korean cinema is what japanese cinema was in the 90s. The fashion has changed in Japan and they are making different movies now (in my opinion worse)
