Oh good

A tv show designed to stoke racial hatred. That's just awesome. We haven't had enough of that this past year.

No, it's about American history. If you don't like it, too damn bad.

reply

Yup, cuz all of American history is just white man being bad to black man. That's the pinnacle of the evolution of Western civilization. Got it.

Funny thing is that slavery was way more common in Africa than it was in western countries. While in western countries wealth was culturally linked to the property of land, in black Africa it was culturally linked to the property of human beings. It was so rooted in African culture than former black slaves, once free, they were more likely to become slave owners than whites. There were lots of black slave owners in US, to the point that the first person who obtained the legal right to own slaves... was black. That's a story you'll never see in Hollywood.

reply

Actually no. While Anthony Johnson was probably the first black man in America to go to court to get the right to own two slaves, he wasn't the very first slaveowner in America----the first slaves were still brought here by white people. And slavery was pretty common in a lot of countries, not just Africa. The big difference between African slavery and American slavery is that while African slaves were sold to different tribes after wars between, they had the option of working themselves out of slavery, and eventually buying their freedom. Here in America, slaves were treated worst than animals, and not even considered human. They were condemned to be slaves from the time they were born until the time they died, with no hope of getting out of slavery at all. That's the truth----you need to do more research. And yes, there were black slave owners (some of whom bought their own families just to keep them together) but they were still a very small group compared to the majority white slaveowners.

I'm also tired of how racists like you are always trying to claim that since Africa and other countries had slavery, that having it in the U.S. was no big deal, as if that justified having it here. I call BS on that. America was supposed to be the land of the free, not just for white people. Black people helped built this country during 300 years of slavery---white people did not build this country by themselves, but they always love to take all the damn credit for it---and it's our country too. And here in America, slavery was culturally linked to the property of both black human beings and land. To claim that slaver was only an African thing is pure BS, since practically every European country that invaded Africa built themselves into empires by stealing Africa's resources and enslaving its people. You left that little part out, but then, of course, you would, since you're nothing but a damn racist anyway--stop lying/twisting history around to justify slavery---that's BS.

reply

That's exactly what it was----white people enslaving black people and treating everybody else who wasn't white like s***, discriminating against them, and all this other bull****, too. That was basically the damn reality of it. Nobody said it was the "pinnacle of western civilization"----that's just some dumb s*** you said. You just can't stand hearing the reality of slavery and not the whitewashed version of it white people have been telling forever, where they're always the good guys. That's some fake BS right there.
