Good, but pretty overrated.

A Quiet Place is well made and entertaining but certainly not the modern horror masterpiece it’s been hyped up as.

There are too many plot holes and inconsistencies within the story. The biggest one being that these creatures somehow took out every military force on earth in less than 90 days but can be killed with a single shotgun blast. I guess no soldier tried shooting at them? Another is that it took four years for someone to figure out aliens with super sensitive hearing would be hurt and/or stunned with high frequency sounds. A third would be why the characters have decided to live above ground in silence when they could very well live normally in their soundproof secured basement.

Countless people have compared it favorably to Get Out, saying “if Get Out could get a BP nom then so could A Quiet Place”. I disagree. Get Out has a much better and tighter script where everything perfectly comes together with zero loose ends. There’s nothing in Get Out that makes you go “but wait, why wouldn’t they just do this instead?” because the calculated script was scanned with a microscope for errors. I wish the same were done here.

"but can be killed with a single shotgun blast"

Only when the alien opens it's armor. When that high frequency sound is used.

But I do agree it's a silly premise and a bad movie, IMO.

I actually found Bird Box to be a much scarier and more dramatic movie, even though it too had it's issues.

It occurred to me when watching "A Quite Place" that such creatures with super-sensitive hearing would have been able to detect breathing and even heartbeats. Besides teeth and wings, they were mostly all ears! You're telling me they can hear someone drop a glass on the floor from a mile away but can't hear someone breathing when they're feet away from them? Not believable.
