I mean she gave him another chance after he bailed and couldn't handle having an autistic son, so now she makes a mistake and its over and he's gonna start seeing another woman? I know they're kinda two different things but still.
I think its bullshit, he should have told that lady at the end he's trying to make it work with Elsa and he shouldn't come in. But no he went in, indicating he's gonna start seeing her.
I feel like Elsa's whole deal is that she was forced to become the person she is because Doug ran away. Maybe when she first had to take care of Sam, she was trying not to become that person, but she just got deeper and deeper into that controlling way of being because of the immediacy of all his needs, and eventually she lost sight of how controlling she had become.
I think Doug feels sorry that he ran away, and has been willing to be there for Sam during the period covered by the show, but it seems to me like he blames Elsa for the breakdown in their marriage, and doesn't really take responsibility for his part of it. I don't feel like he gives much back to her, really. His demeanor is gentle and sweet, but in such a passive (and sometimes passive-aggressive) way, that it just seems a bit soul-sucking rather than helpful.
Nah, he should have divorced her.
