Yes, going by the Director's previous it will undoubtedly be aimed at a "modern audience".

"modern audience" = Blue haired individuals with nose rings that never go to the cinema.

Can confirm, while the film is not obnoxiously woke for the most part (implausible racial diversity for example is kept to a minimum), the ending gets quite woke and lays some very woke seeds for future instalments.

Not really woke. It deals with exploiting women but not in a forced way. This is a strong prequel.

I agree. It's not done in a preachy way. The movie brings up crimes like rape that were being covered up at the time, we know now, but it's not like it hits you over the head constantly with these things. These themes come through in the story and characters.
