So I googled "This is Us" and this shows at the top:

This Is Us 2016 ‧ Tragedy ‧ 6 seasons

Tragedy? Is that really a genre? Or is that a sub genre??

I would think it belongs more in the category of "Drama".

I've never seen anything like that before.

Tragedy is a dramatic category, like comedy. In a tragedy, the protagonist, like Hamlet, is put in a situation that is literally impossible to overcome—and then we marvel, and are inspired by, how CLOSE s/he comes to achieving the goal.

I have followed postings about this show because I know that nothing this popular can be worth a damn. This is certainly melodrama. Tragedy is reserved for artists. This is the best province of insurance salespeople.

I'm glad you have a keen eye and are smart enough to figure that out.

I wasn't.

I'm not done lol...

I have yet to find a show listed as a "tragedy" on F _ _ _ _ i_ on Google!!

I can see it on all sorts of platforms...

Is F _ _ _ _ i _ supposed to be the F-word? I think I would spell it F _ _ _ i _ _.

reply

lol...whatever. i was in a hurry for another awesome post to witness.

So sorry about that.

Good post.

Tragedy must be something new. It should be a drama. Calling a TV series or especially a movie a tragedy can give away an ending.

reply

That's what I was thinking. But I couldn't find another show listed as "tragedy" on Google.
