I liked the series, and know that it was cancelled, but it couldve gone a second season.. with the ramifications of Jeans deceit, with more on Mellissa S., with mmore on Sam/Sidney.. It just felt rushed for the ending.

Agreed. I think they thought they would have a second season, and when they found out they were not renewed they rushed it . Same thing happened with Bloodline. Three seasons but was slated for 5 or 6. They had to end it fast, and as a result it the finale was less than the stellar previous seasons.

Producers force cliffhangers out of an often misplaced notion that it increases buzz and viewership.
I thought this series was rather clever that way - yes, many things were left unresolved, but we're left with the impression that nothing will EVER be resolved with Jean. We learn she's been doing this a loooong time, given the reveal that Melissa Saugrave is yet another of her victims.
That's why it's fitting to end with her smiling and looking smug. She lives for this crap. She's won.
Its been a year since Ive watched, so now I must watch it again ,lol
