People only like twists when they don’t see them coming

This was the big problem for this movie. Not that it ended on a “sad” note, but because the twist was so darn obvious.

The camera focused too much on the exterior of the pods in the final 1-2 minutes. It was a dead giveaway.

Also, twists work when they go against the tone of the movie. This movie was already dominated by a sad tone. If anything, a huge relief of revealing the woman in the ocean at the end WOULD BE A TWIST! Lol.

This movie was a textbook example of a basic script for basic people. 3/10. Points only for the acting.

At 3/10 ... you're being generous.

I knew early in the film that it would have a dark ending with the alien making its way to Earth on its mission to wipe out humanity, so by association I knew that the pod heading towards Earth was likely to be the one with Gyllenhaal in.

This was a fairly standard and cliched movie. The one thing that that I didn't see coming was Ryan Reynolds dying early.
