well... let's just say that as a COMEDY the premise is questionable at best

To me pretty much the only funny part about this series was the scenes with the Russians.

And also, I don't see where the show can go from here.

I find it pretty much perfect. I love its dry sense of humor, though it's not for everyone.

I'm loving it too. When it started it struck me as 70% comedy and 30% drama but by the finale I'd reverse those numbers.

Yes, well said. And sometimes it reverses again. (Sub sandwich anyone?)

Yeah, they kind of painted themselves into a corner with no believable way out. At this point, Barry could never be normal or have a normal life after he killed his friend. Barry is a piece of shit forever that I don't care about at all. I don't want him to have a good life anymore. I don't feel sorry for him.

So Barry has a conscious when it comes to killing a complete asshole that jeopardizes everything they've worked for (The 1st marine). Yet he kills a good guy with a family (The 2nd marine)?

reply

That's correct. Barry can never be normal. Which turns comedy into tragedy. Sorta Shakespearian, yes? Which is why the backdrop of an acting class putting on Macbeth is so spot on. From Wikipedia: "...wracked with guilt and paranoia [Macbeth is] forced to commit more and more murders to protect himself from enmity and suspicion..."
