Comparing Richard Nixon to Trump

Seriously?! Does Bee feel that threatened by Trump? Most of Bee's target audience of those under age 35 would only remember Nixon as perhaps a question on a quiz if that. Imagine the outcry if Hillary were compared with Eva Peron for example.

What do you expect from Samantha Bee? I found her segments on The Daily Show among the least thought-provoking or amusing. What little I have seen of her show is equally rotten. Bee is fulfilling a role that quite a few pseudo-left comedians of her ilk are doing: the trend in corporate media is to vilify, mock, and belittle the Trump Administration at every available opportunity, guiding public opinion to look upon Trump as an odious buffoon. This has less to do with Trump's actual failings than it does about certain features of Trump's foreign policy that are at odds with certain powerful factions within the military-intelligence apparatus that want to see a continuation of imperialistic proxy wars as we had in Libya and Syria, and the strong drive to demonize Russia as she is one of the major powers that has prevented American imperialism from achieving its objectives in the Middle East and especially Syria. This is at the root of the anti-Russian hysteria that is being heavily promoted right now. The New York Times sells the fictional "Russia meddling in US elections"and "Trump is in cahoots with Putin" fable on a daily basis. I have little doubt Bee makes similar jokes along these lines. It is embarrassing to watch Colbert degrade himself night after night with Trump-Russian jabs no doubt written at CIA Headquarters.

Interesting comparison though to be fair Nixon was Republican, a president, and came close to impeachment but resigned before he was to face prosecution (Watergate). What the democrats want and hope is for Trump to resign if there is actual collusion with the Russians or Russian ties. As for the Eva Peron, she was running for vice president and had opposition from the military and bourgeoisie. The only thing in common that I see with Peron and Hillary is their declining health but Hillary didn't withdraw from the race.

The comparison was more in depth than that. Mention was made about Nixon being anti-Semetic, paranoid, etc. Trump was only a Republican since 2012 versus Nixon being a life long Republican. Nixon had been in politics for almost two decades before becoming President while Trump is a political novice who started off at the top of the food chain. How does somebody who is not a physician for either Nixon or Trump able to assess either one's mental health? Is there a strong commonality between Clinton and Peron probably not but Peron was known to be extremely ambitious which could describe Clinton. If they want to compare Nixon and Trump then do some homework versus cherry picking for desired negatives.

reply

Richard Nixon would be left of Hillary Clinton today.

Trump is a demagogue and an oligarch's dream.

reply

Trump has plenty of flaws but is manageable. Clinton is very oiled at working around the political and media machinery which should scare just about anybody. Imagine her on the level of Nixon but can keep secrets about her desires and ambitions far better than Nixon.

reply

The Clintons are a known quantity. Neither Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump are true populists. Both are right of Nixon on many issues, and both would lie with a smile to get what they want.

reply

She's just a screeching harridan with no brains or wit who mouthfarts a lot of idiotic rants that her leftstapo audience mindlessly licks up like honey. She knows nothing and has nothing to say.
