This is basically Star Wars with a Trek skin, and it seems that people these days will only accept this kind of crap as Star Trek, and not the older proper stuff. Prove me wrong.

It is a disgrace, and my blood boils whenever someone mentions it as part of Star Trek canon.

I don't think people are the problem per se. Elites that push this BS on the masses are the problem.
Social Engineering is what it's called.
