What Do You Like About The Show?

Well it's the first new Star Trek TV show since Enterprise Season 4 ended over ten years ago, so that's the main good reason to watch the show. It'll add new lore to the Prime Universe, and I'm sure we're going to see some callbacks to TNG, DS9, and VOY as well. The problem is how they're handling the Klingons, who talk way too slowly and don't look like they should, and the fact that the main character is an insubordinate, it doesn't feel like Roddenberry's vision.

Better judgment after more of the season has been released.

If you're watching it for what it is, then it has potential to be a great dramatic story with interesting characters. I like that a lot, and even enjoy the cinematic feel. The catch is that as of ep 3 (ep 4 comes out tomorrow), it doesn't feel as much a part of the ST world yet, due to the narrative (and some newly-introduced technologies) they decided to go with, and we have yet to see an explanation for possible continuity problems in the "prime" timeline. A lot of hardcore ST fans are understandably upset about having built up their expectations for one thing and possibly getting something quite a bit different. So far I'd have to say the closest ST series it's comparable to is Enterprise.

As someone mentioned in another thread, it feels more like an Alien series movie so far though, for a few reasons. Much of this could very well change, but it's too early to tell. Again, I don't mind as long as it's a story worth watching, though it will be a shame if they just put the name Star Trek on it when they could have just made it a whole other series.

If you liked DS9 and ENT then this show may have the potential to be good, very good even.

I had issues with the first 2 episodes bit really liked the third. Love the dark war arc conspiracy angle, and already love Captain Lorca. I hope they don't kill him off quickly because he is the best on the show so far IMO. After DD9, I wanted an ST more like it but updated with more continues plots and perhaps less episodes to keep it tight and attract newer fans. Some of the old fans will be the death of Trek and also tried to sabotage TNG, DS9, and of course had ENT cancelled.
