Intentionally delayed
I wonder if they are intentionally delaying the making of another Kelvin-timeline Star Trek movie so the actors will be closer to the ages of the original cast actors during the original movies in the 1980s.

supposed to come out next year, but I dont think they have even started filming yet. they still have to contend with Chekov missing.
