If I'm Walker, this is a list of things that I know...
1. Rip does not like me
2. In fact, Rip hates me.
3. Rip wants to kill me if he is given the right opportunity.

So What does Walker do...He seeks an opportunity to play a sad song for Rip's fiance ??

It just doesn't make sense

He really lives in a I'm not her daddy, these woman can do what they want and I will take advantage of it.

Rip won't kill Walker because John doesn't want him to. Everyone on the ranch knows that Rip is unfailingly loyal to John, including Walker.
