How was Captain America able to temporarily fight Thanos on his own in Endgame?

Thanos was winning a three on one battle.

The same way he came back and beat Tony in Civil War.

In the original comic series it is based on Captain America does fight Thanos on his own. He even admits to him he has no chance of beating him but that he is going to go down fighting for the world he loves and cares about.
