feel bad for Ron :(

him directing a SW movie just seemed written in the stars...:

-was in Lucas' American Graffiti (with HFord)
-directed Lucas produced Willow (with Warwick Davis)
-was offered directing Episode I by Lucas
-directed Angels & Demons (with Ewan McGregor) plus Da Vinci Code and Inferno had SW actors - (Bettney/Jones.. also talking of Bettany he was the villain in Firewall facing off against HFord - these actors like Bettany must be like 'wow this is weird.')

its like he was the perfect director for a SW movie.. and now hes the director behind the unthinkable - the very first SW movie to bomb :(

He said this movie made more money in its opening weekend then any other movie he's ever directed.

And don't forget Splash. One of the cutest comedies ever.

All fair points. Not to mention, he took someone else's unfinished work, and patched it up without making the patchwork noticeable.

Ron Howard basically gave Solo the same care that Peyton Reed gave Ant-Man in 2015. It wasn't great, but it was a solid actioner. When the studios want to change the tone of the movie, success is not guaranteed. This could've easily been another disastrous Fantastic Four situation.

I'd still like to see Lord and Miller's cut, just as I'd like to see Edgar Wright's Ant-Man and Josh Trank's FF. Sadly, I doubt any of that could happen.
