Too nerdy and bland (minor spoilers)

I can't do it anymore... these movies hold zero interest to anyone who isn't into the whole star wars/trek cults... it seems the only enjoyment on offer is piecing together the various references to previous and future films and such obsessive fan minutiae to nerd out on...

Decidedly average film to be honest, despite, for the most part, having such a talented cast

On the plus side it got pretty funny after a while when every character would die after being useful to the plot... and it's not much of a chore to look at Felicity Jones's angelic face for a couple of hours...

Why don't they make more of an effort to have these films stand on their own or work as movies? Is it just a combination of lazy filmmaking (captive audience) and conservative corporate oversight?

The 007 franchise takes more risks and is more cinematic on average than anything in the star* arena, so i don't think it can entirely be blamed on commercial considerations

Props for honesty. I watched the whole thing three times, and I still couldn't tell you what happened, other than Fu-Fu Whitaker as the broke-ass Rebel analog to Darth Vader.

Yeah, this was particularly obvious with the Shaolin monk (you know which one I'm talking about, the blind guy), who was ridiculously invincible up until he calmly strolled up to the control board out in the open and flicked the master switch or whatever it was, and afterwards was completely defenceless for no reason.

Good thing that that control panel apparently exuded the force, allowing him to locate it first try.

Also makes you think how the empire could have succeeded in doing away with the Jedi considering how overpowered this blind dude was - who might not even have been a Jedi.
