When they freed the black widows...did they then all die in the resulting explosion of the spaceship? The main boss guy didnt get out and he left the room 10 minutes before everyone else.

Just how is that base floating in the sky? The rotors on that thing would make one helluva noise which you probably don't want if you're trying to be secret.
This thing and the Shield carriers never made any sense to me from a covert ops point of view.
Of course that thing is ridiculous, but the sound is probably not a problem. You just have to stay above the ocean far away from land and avoid all the airline and ship routes, then nobody can hear it.
But of course that is not the case, they all landed on ground, so they were really not hiding.
The stealth as it seems is through cloud generation, which is also suspicious if it was above land.
