Just saw it: My thoughts (no spoilers)

Not a bad movie at all, some really intense scenes and superb performances. Score and effects was great and story was tense.

Now it was much different from what i thought it was going to be, which was an all out war type movie of Apes vs Human. This is not really the case, it is far more focused on the drama and much slower paced than even the last movie, "Dawn". Still good though even if it was not what i was expecting.

If you are going to see, keep that in mind.

Good to hear. What I wanted. The trailers are all "nonstop mayhem!" That really turned me off. I don't like Transformers. Stop.

reply

Yes the trailers do not paint a very accurate portrait of the type of film this is. This can be a good thing, which in this case I think it was, but at the same time if you are walking in looking for an all out war movie then you might be dissapointed.

"I don't like Transformers."

Not all heavy action movies are like Transformers. Even if a film is heavily action oriented does not mean the action is meaningless and mindless; like in the case of Transformers. But it does seem like now a days you either get a good dramatic type film with little action and heavy melodrama; or you get straight up action porn. There be a large number of films today that blend the 2. War does a fairly good job but definitely leans more toward melodrama.

Deceptive marketin I say. Felt really borin at timez. Why wud virus mutate? Why a sudden avalanche? So contrived. They try 2 set up da plot twist but it wuz weak.

"Why wud virus mutate?"

umm because they do that in real life.

"Why a sudden avalanche? So contrived. "

Or I don't know might have had something to do with the large number of massive explosions that had just taken place on the side of a snow covered mountain. That would like cause an avalanche if the explosions were large enough.

"They try 2 set up da plot twist but it wuz weak."

there was a couple of 'plot twist' none of which would I think were weak. Just not very action orientated. This was a much more dramatic take then I expected but they does not make it a weak film. Still I liked Dawn Better.

"Deceptive marketin I say."

This I agree with, the marketing is going to send the audience to the theater expecting one type of movie and not getting it. I was okay with having my expectations not meet; others might not be okay with it.

"Felt really borin at timez. "

This I also kind of agree with. There are about 4 or 5 'moments' that just really dragged on too long, it started to enter the realm of over-dramatic. But there are more than enough intense scenes to make up for it.
