Just watched it tonight and am interested to know: are we supposed to infer they had sex scene when Major Sanders was wearing a robe with Jack in the hotel room?
haha i had same doubt....i initially thought they cut the scene but then i assumed nothing happened :D
shareIs that the Colbie character. The New Orleans hotel they stayed was real large with seeing him having to go through several rooms to his daughters room. Wasn't really a great movie and didn't lock into what is going on. I saw Colbie in a bra but to me there was nothing going on between them.

The allegedly smokin' love scene was cut from Never Go Back, which hits theaters Friday.
According to Smulders, her Major Susan Turner character and Cruise's Jack Reacher had the hot moment during a forced stay in a posh New Orleans hotel while the two were on the run from lethal killers in the thriller. In Hollywood, that's the cue for sex.
"We shot a whole scene. I don?t know what the decision was to leave it out," says Smulders.
Director Edward Zwick says the scene slowed down the action (outside of the bedroom, that is). And it was a little too Hollywood predictable: two beautiful people fleeing assassins falling into the sack together.
"Those kinds of scenes tend to slow it all down. And it felt a little on-the-nose and clichéd," says Zwick. "We just decided (to) make it a little bit more authentic."
Zwick insists the scene was "pretty good, I've got to say. It's pretty smokin.' "
He says he would consider adding the scene to the eventual Never Go Back DVD release. "I have never done something like that before, but it's an interesting thought."

I figured it could have gone either way, since we never see sex scenes like we used to in the seventies.
shareI got the sense that they didn't.
It would change the whole dynamic of their relationship/friendship/whatever if they actually did.
It fit with the novel, where they were both cold, practical types, but movie Reacher and Turner are more "human" - sex wouldn't be as casual for them, so better that they don't "engage"

Probably doesn’t help that I was imagining them played by Ray Stevenson and Michelle Forbes
Yes they did, but it was preceded by months of phone calls, built up desire. Plus, they may be calculated soldier cops, but they're still human. They both considered giving the relationship a go, but determined that she still needed the army and he still needed his roaming.
