Would like to see a sequel/offshoot called Magneto

Have it center around old Magneto and Raven. Possibly Jean Grey and Cyclops in supporting roles. They need a proper swan song too.

I would love to see that.

I don't think that would work. Without Xavier standing in his way Magneto is less interesting, it's as simple as that. He's still a great character, don't get me wrong, but their dynamic and complex relationship was the heart and soul of the X-Men franchise. As for the other three, well...I think we have a similar problem. On their own, I don't think those characters could carry a movie. If Wolverine comes back and Hugh Jackman changes his mind then that would be different, but without him I think they should just steer clear of revisiting those characters.

That's one opinion. And the same could be said about Xavier without Magneto. I happen to think Magneto has been the most interesting and complex character in the series and comics. As for the other characters not being able to carry a movie, well, maybe that's because they've never been given the chance to. I loved 'Logan.' But it's possibly the first time I have really liked the character. He's been over exposed and been put front and center far too often.

reply

Well, that's just your opinion. Most people (including me) love Wolverine. He's a great character. I mean, honestly, could you imagine Cyclops/Scott carrying a movie on his own? It just wouldn't work. He's not...interesting enough, basically. Magneto is interesting enough, yes, but without Charles it would lose something. And yes, I was a little worried when I found out that Magneto wasn't going to be in Logan. I wondered how Xavier would come across without Magneto to bounce off... Thankfully, though, due to the unique premise and showing us a different sort of Xavier (one that's clearly battling against some form of dementia), it worked.

Where Magneto gets killed at the end

reply

Not necessarily. A character doesn't need to get killed off in order to have closure.

reply

Hmm... Maybe. I feel like it wouldn't be as good, though... Magneto is usually seen as the villain, or perhaps antihero. Would he still be trying to take over the world? Or try to live as a normal person again; maybe start a family with Mystique and Quicksilver or something?

reply

There are many instances in the comics where he has taken Xaviers place. Also, if anything, this movie showed that his take on humans was right, so even if his world views haven't changed, he would actually be the good guy in a movie like this

reply

Huh. Good point.
But having human extermination wouldn't really be a good thing either, lol. There needs to be some kind of balance, even if it's not perfect harmony (which is probably impossible).
