Strange casting choices.

Firstly the ages of the sisters at the start of the book compared to the actors in this film:

Meg 16 - Emma Watson 28
Jo 15 - Saoirse Ronan 24
Amy 13 - Florence Pugh 22
Beth 12 - Eliza Scanlen 19

Of course it's easier to have older actresses to work with but these age differences were too large. Florence Pugh was depicted as being naughty in class as though she was 13 but in reality she was a very mature 22. Just ridiculous.

Timothee Chalamet - This is the first thing I have seen him in and he is undoubtedly a good actor but he is not what you would describe as a manly man. Too skinny and too effeminate.

Chris Cooper - Will always be the creepy and sinister Conklin from the Jason Bourne films to me. How anyone could think he was appropriate casting for the kindly old Mr Laurence is beyond me.

Bob Odenkirk - Better Call Saul for Mr March !? Really !? I kept expecting him to start coming out with the trademark Saul Goodman wisecracks.

I also thought Pugh was a poor fit for young Amy. She looked silly when acting childish. She was very impressive as older Amy, however.

I thought the others could pass as teenagers.

Laurie isn't supposed to be a manly man, so what difference does that make? Or do you just hate seeing actors who aren't manly men?

Just because you remember Chris Cooper as someone from another movie means he was miscast? I never saw the Jason Bourne movies, I bet the most of the target audience for this movie hasn't either. Not to mention he has an extensive acting history playing all types of characters.

Again, just because you know Bob Odenkirk as Saul means he was a strange casting choice? Maybe you need to watch these actors in more things before you start criticizing them for NOT being typecast

Yeah, one is supposed to remember Chris Cooper from Adaptation and Lone Star.

Every single adaptation of Little Women has been played by actresses older than the characters. In the 40's version a 32 year old plays a teenager. Most teenagers don't have the acting chops to play older women as they appear in the second half of the story, so they have older women play younger girls. It's just how things are always done. Look at all the high school shows where the actors aren't even close to the same age as their characters.

Small correction: Beth is older than Amy: birth order is Meg, Jo, Beth Amy.
