I don't feel as bad as I could for the owner

I spent thousands of dollars on hundreds of cds that are now virtually worthless. I waited years for cd prices to drop while remaining a loyal consumer. Greed is not always good.

Yeah, they definitely got greedy. They had our heads over a barrel back then because there really was no other way to buy a song than buying the whole CD. I related to the story because I'm 48 and I feel like all this change happened from the time I was a kid. Growing up, we bought a lot of 45s and albums. High school was the beginning of the cassette but we still bought the album and we made mix tapes. College came and so did CDs and they really were terribly expensive, sometimes $20/CD! So we sometimes had all three forms: album, cassette and CD! It felt like such a scam! Of course this entailed buying new equipment and ditching the old stereo. I regret losing a lot of these things to floods or moving. The owner and management sounded like great people and I am sorry for the loss of Tower Records! I guess it just wasn't sustainable as an industry but I miss the record store so much. It was a wonderful hangout! I hardly listen to new music anymore, I feel there isn't a venue. Bummer, because I love music.

Wow, you see a lot of live music, that's the best. Tom Petty is so cool. We don't go to a lot of concerts, something I've been wanting to correct. You're right about access to music, it's much easier but I'm just not as exposed to it as I once was. Everything is so isolated now. We have Sirius in the car and I usually end up listening to NPR or a couple of music stations that are predictable. I guess I miss listening to a few good radio stations that didn't have a set playlist. The DJs had some say so in the music. It made me discover new stuff. I'm just complaining now, sorry! There's also my laziness! I hear most new music I like from tv shows and movies. That show "Big Little Liars" has some excellent music in it.

Your CDs are not worthless. They are still literally the best quality audio you can get. Thanks streaming for killing quality records.
