And ended in a really nice way.

Even Naomi was decent this season ...

& that's it?
what was the point of each EP starting out with the annoying little girl & her alien friends?

reply

Inaros was hoping that they will send their alien/protomolecule ship to help them.

Which they didn't and were like "fuck you guys". Was interesting and probably in the books open the story arc for Laconia and it even opens up a continuation - if ever.

I should probably read the rest of the books (7 and 8) since the chances of a new show to take over and continue the story are almost zero ...

thanks,, i must've missed or forgot whenever that was mentioned,
but they really left us hanging with the little brother & not showing what happens when the soldiers came

Last episode when Inaros is talking about a "surprise" and then we see the admiral or whatever he was, the leader of Laconia, saying "hey buddy, we are on your own. And btw I don't want to see your filthy ships in my sector!"

reply

That element of the plot seemed really rushed to me but I guess they were pressed for time.

Did anyone else find it odd that they setup Clarissa's impending death from her implants but there's no payoff whatsoever? I was certain she was going to sacrifice herself in some way. Why leave that story element in if there's not going to be a seventh season?

reply

Yeah, I was thinking the same but I was more satisfied with her surviving ... I don't know, it felt like a better development of her character.

It makes me wonder if they plan to follow the book series closely, should the series ever get picked up again by Amazon or someone else in the future. This makes a natural stopping point if they aren't going to do all nine of the books, because at the conclusion of the war with Inaros and the Free Navy, things settle down a bit for Holden and his crew, and The next book picks up their story about twenty years later. Clarissa is still alive then, and still a member of the Rocinante's crew, but having serious health problems thanks to her mods, and probably not much time left to her no matter what. She finally sacrifices herself when, in order to complete the mission she and Naomi are on, and save Naomi's life, she activates her artificial glands for the first time in many years. This allows her to kill all six bad guys facing them, but the strain is too much for her body to handle any longer and she dies moments later.

reply

Yeah, the fact that Clarissa's autodoc only gave her 5 years suggests that they planned to do only a short time skip for the seventh season, not twenty years. The books did that long a time skip in order to justify Laconia growing into this galaxy-wide threat, but I'd be fine with just a few years. The P-molecule tech is fictional obviously, you can make it as powerful as you want it to be to move the plot along without having to recast the whole show.

reply

Seam to recall, me, a point in the books wherr Amos tells someone, probalby Holden, that it was a good way for her to die, given her deterroration from the mods, & that he wasno upset about it.

reply

Best finale since....I don't know....Angel? Breaking Bad? Most finales are awful.

reply

It was more than ok, perhaps it lacked a reunion between Filip and Naomi. Not only as a rewarding scene after building his character arc during 2 entire seasons, but also it felt wrong to finish the story with Naomi thinking she killed her son. And that Laconia storyline going nowhere, with no season 7 in sight.
