It was fantastic

Warm, hilarious, but with undershades of seriousness and drama. Strong characters. Last act made the movie into classic territory imo.

It hasn't come to our theatres yet, but, I will watch anything with Constance Wu in it!!

Average gal gets swept off her feet by a wealthy, handsome dude.

Seems like a chick flick to me.

reply

100% chick flick. Be warned.

Not sure why I'd want to watch any bunch of mega-wealthy current people do anything. At least a costume drama has a Period feel. That these are Asian people doesn't change anything.
I did like Eat Drink Man Woman. That family seemed down-to-earth with problems we can all relate to.

reply

That’s kind of the point. This family for the most part, is not at all down-to-earth. The average person can not relate to the world that this family belongs to or many of the characters. And neither can the main character.

For a summer film it was fun, lush, funny at times and very watchable.

didn't think it was as funny as advertised but I loved seeing the city of Singapore and the culture represented on screen and yes Constance Wu and Michelle Yeoh were fantastic together.

Have a short review of this movie if anyone is interested. If you feel there is something I could be doing better, I would definitely love to hear it. Review here- https://youtu.be/euNn9QhNros
