On second thought, Mirabel was the lucky one

My initial thought was that she got screwed out of getting superpowers, but most of what they had seemed more like curses when you think about it.

Super hearing: How awful would it be to constantly hear every shit someone takes or going to dinner and listening to people chew!

Weather powers = awesome. Weather powers you can't really control = miserable and potentially deadly.

Shapeshifting - cool, but not really useful outside of villainy. I'm curious how his amazing identity theft powers will help the village.

Bruno-The song summed that up

Talking to animals - Personally, I don't want to have conversations my food. I'm guessing they cows would feel a certain way about my love for a good steak!

Super strength: Finally a good one, but she spent her days lugging everyone's shit around. Helping people move sucks. No wonder she was going nuts in the movie

They can keep all that bullshit! Mirabel got the fancy ass smarthouse with non of the headaches. She wins!

The movie should have ended with them losing their superpowers, having the people of the community they built show gratitude and compassion while they all build a new house together, and getting to know each other as ordinary family members and not people burdened with superpowers, with Mirabel taking a leadership role as she was the one who knew how to live without powers.

As it was, they all ended the movie with the superpowers intact, and less sense of responsibility.

They built the new house without any superpowers, but with a lot of help from the other people in town.
That is what made them all start healing and learn to appreciate each other.
You can tell that the villagers even got to know Bruno as more than "that weird guy with the creepy visions".
And that is why the Madrigals were allowed to get their powers back.
Mirabel is nevertheless obviously meant to be the future leader.
It is made clear by how she's in the center of the picture on the door of the new casita.

And as for responsibility, that is clearly something the Madrigals needed to have less of.
Luisa was becoming burned out, and Isabela was almost pushed into a loveless marriage.
And it was typical of Abuela to already talk about making Antonio's gift useful in the morning after his ceremony.
She had no concern for that the boy only was five years old or that he hadn't even had his gift for a whole day yet.

True, we gradually see that having a gift hardly is only a good thing.
But in the beginning, that is not clear to us or to Mirabel.
And a big part of her journey was discovering that her sisters and Bruno and even Abuela had suffered too.
But it turns out that Mirabel not having a gift isn't really the problem either.
The problem is that Abuela's unhealed trauma made her put too much unnecessary pressure on her family.
Mirabel would be the exception to this, but she would feel worthless and neglected instead.
So a lot of pain was going around in that house...

Pepa's power is indeed inconvenient for her personally most of the time.
But for the community as a whole, it is good to know that there won't be droughts or too much rain.
We have to remember that the valley is isolated, so they would need a good harvest every single year to survive.
Dolores's power is mostly inconvenient for her personally as well.
And yet, she is the one who can hear where a missing person or animal can be and help others find them in time.
It is made clear when Mirabel runs off and Dolores tries to hear her, only to remember that her power is gone.
Camilo is not just the local clown/comedian, but a good babysitter as well.
And it becomes clear that his shape-shifting power can be really important in emergencies.
Because he can turn into someone taller or stronger or faster and help out that way.
Antonio is too young to have discovered any drawbacks from his gift yet.
But he will undoubtedly face some problems too at some point.
We can be pretty sure that Antonio will become a vegetarian in the future for understandable reasons...
