"She doesn't like chocolate..."

First of all, the hell she doesn't...there may be one kid in every hundred thousand that doesn't like chocolate, but this was a weird moment anyway and am wondering if its a sign of things to come (I'm watching it now).
They needed something to show that he's been away, that he's missed some stuff...that his wife is apparently a little resentful of it. And they chose his 5-year old daughter (or however old she is) not liking chocolate.

Not pancakes themselves, or maybe butter on her toast, but chocolate...the one thing that children would literally kill other children over if not for adult intervention. Not a good choice for the dramatic narrative they're going for in this little scene...which makes you wonder how apt they are to throw whatever at the screen they can dream up for the purposes of the narrative.

Doesn't like chocolate, are you kidding me??

There are people who don't like chocolate. I do. I love it. My wife, however, hates it.

Now, I think liking chocolate is far more common than not; but that doesn't mean this child isn't one of the few.

I’m old now, but ever since i was a baby i hated all sweets. Never liked cake, ice cream, candy. None of it.

It’s not an impossibility.
