Second best ST series after TOS!

I watched all of the episodes within a few days. This was so impressive and amazing. All the wonder, tense and excitement for Star Trek was back! This is what all the Star Trek fans out there was waiting for. Not yet another braindead and dark SciFi soap opera. Yes, CBS, we get what you were reaching for (insecure and therefor dark/depressed teens which wouldnt give a damn about another Star Trek series at all). But why do you have to call this meaningless piece of yet another soap opera then Star Trek at all?

Isnt it strange, that some fans made a way, way, way, way, way better Star Trek series on a way more professional level then CBS with an budget of 10 million US $ per episode?

But im not whining that CBS/Paramount destroyed Star Trek Continues (beside that they could easily avoid it, cause all rights reserved, means all rights reserved. So you dont have to treat anyone the same way with your purpose). Instead im really glad that I could once again get that spirit that Star Trek once had. No CBS, no Paramount, no Discovery, no "full lights ahead" Abrams could take that away from me! After all that travesties released by "movie" companies during the last few years (Star Wars TLJ, Blade Runner 2049, Abrams "Star Trek" and especially Discovery) it was sooo good to see that good film making hasnt died. Thanks again and again.

I agree that this series is very well done and pays homage to the simplicity and likeability of TOS. I also concede that as much as I really did enjoy the reboot franchise films, I like this better.

But that aside, I believe this short series serves a very small audience. In other words, if this same production was done as a feature film, it would be panned unmercifully by the "critics" and bomb spectacularly at the box office.

But for the dwindling number of older fans that don't need spectacular CGI to keep our interest and loved the original series, this is a wonderful production.

You are completely wrong. The series got more attention then the Discovery desaster at Star Trek conventions. ST Continues is Star Trek. And it doesnt matter what paid agenda driven critics state. They are the ones which really died during the last few years.

reply

Well, you know what would prove you right? Paramount doing the same thing with better actors.

I just don't see the market being all that large for this type of programming. Most Trekkers are older folks who are getting older every day.

Young guns like the reboot stuff better.

Young guns like retro stuff. And ST Continues is the only real stuff. And Mignoga is by far the second best Captain Kirk ever done. He is so amazingly believable.

Paramount only tried to do a agenda series, which nearly destroyed Star Trek and is now dead anyway. So no, Young guns doenst like reboot stuff. They hate it, when its obvious that its just a cash grab. And ST continues isnt that at all. ITs an important part of the ST canon, cause it builds the bridge to ST I (in such an amazing way!).

This is.... awesome! Really awesome! Finally, a “real” Star Trek series! I am going to watch all the episodes ASAP. Why didn’t I ever hear about this? I just watched 4 minutes of episode 1 and I know I’m hooked. :)

Yep, this IS STAR TREK. Anything else trying to be Star Trek this daze is plain tash. Thats why they dont find new investors for Star Trek IV Reboot. Thats why Star tTrek Discovery almost dies after one season. Cause everyone hates it.

And then there were thos real Star Trek fans which crowdfunded some money and did a real Star Trek series. As incredible as possible. And yes, indeed there are better and worse episodes within the 8 episodes. But all of them are lightyears ahead of anything that was done within the last 10 years done by Paramount or CBS.

I wish I could see this episodes for the first time again. That was the last time Star Trek was made and what a ride it was. I dont think we will get any further Star Trek episodes or movies.

The lighting. The sound effects. The awesome soundtrack, even beyond the theme. The camera angles and reaction shots. The sets. Kirk’s mannerisms. The 60’s acting style. The credit graphics and fonts. This show feels completely authentic to the look and ambiance of TOS.

In a way, I’m glad I am late to this party, so now I can watch all the episodes without a 6 month wait in between new episodes. :)

You are so glad! I did an pause after the first 3 episodes and saw the rest within a week. It was so amazing. It was like Star Trek lived again. In all its glory (and its weakpoints ;-) ).
Paramount then stopped all fan movies out of unstopable greed. That greed wouldnt had been any problem, if they would have relesed further Star Trek series or more episodes from Star Trek Continues (strange idea: instead of crowdfunding Paramount could have financed further STC episodes, dumb i*diots from Paramoount! The actors all would have been too happy. BTW There even were further 2 episodes already planned!). But all we got was that Star Trek Discoagenda and that extremely boring Star Trek III movie.

I dunno - I haven't seen this, but I'm reading a LOT of similar praise about the subpar Orville. Anytime I read such high praises, I begin to realize that it's not about Orville (which is a shitty and gay version of star trek), as much as it is about the hate of Discovery.

In my book, both discovery and orville are pretty darn crappy, especially in their 2nd seasons (star trek shows usually start off poorly but get better in 2nd seasons) - these 2 shows started off pretty well but then took a huge plunge in terms of writing quality in their second seasons.

Given how you list TOS as the best star trek, even though majority of viewers perceive it to be inferior to next gen and ds9 - I imagine this show just as shitty as orville and discovery.

TOS was the beginning and by far the best series. TNG was too PC-boring and DS9 .... wasnt Star Trek. Star Trek is about exploring. And DS9 was fine soap opera which I also liked as you did. But sitting around in your fixed spot station isnt really "to boldly go where no man has gone before" (thats why TNG, Enterprise (Enterprise was an awesome series for the first 2 seasons, before they copied the usual war crime stuff common at series of that time) and especially Voyager was way better then DS9).

And BTW Most Star Trek fans prefer Kirk over Picard. Cause Picard is the boring lameass captain.

And finally: Discovery dont need any hate. Its pure sh*t anyway which doesntt have anything in common with Star Trek at all. Its just another dumb and dark series. The exact opposite what your expect from a Star Trek series!

Heheh.. Picard is a product of his times.

Mostly I'm OK with him and actually enjoyed a majority of the episodes, but there is one Picard moment that actually ticks me off. He was just so badly written in The Pegasus. If I was Patrick Stewart, I would have complained mightily.

That was the show where the Federation had developed an advanced phased cloaking device in direct violation of a treaty with the Romulans but was believed to be lost along with the destruction of the pilot ship Pegasus. When it was determined that the Pegasus and the cloaking device may be caught in an asteroid field, the Feds sent an Admiral to oversee the recovery of both while Picard was kept in the dark over the mission. That he got his panties in a twist is an understatement. He acted like a child when he found out that Riker was on the Pegaus when it was lost and pitched a fit that Riker couldn't brief him because he was under direct orders not to by Admiral Pressman.

But the think that pissed me off is when Picard revealed the cloaking device to the Romulans.

Orville isn't everyone's cup of tea, but my wife and I both enjoy it. It's not supposed to be a drop in replacement for Star Trek but does offer a lot of the simplicity and humor of the original series.

We like it much better than Discovery.
