Why are American Southerners so stupid?

they grew up in the south.
They were fleeting from the english and were third rate criminals.
Just like the aussies.

In most cases, they're just portrayed stupid by the 'Easterners' of Hollywood.

I don't know...why are so many people on message boards stupid?
Because they're uneducated and believe everything they see and hear..?

Ha..I live in a southern state where the capital city definitely has a larger minority population than that of caucasian, which would include a predominate black police force and government, so it would depend on your definition of racism.
No one told Hollywood but many problems were tackled in these southern states more forcefully early on than they were in places like the Midwest and the NW where the minority populations are so low..
Currently it seems that most racial issues/conflicts seem to be coming from the North. When did Detroit and Baltimore move south?
But certain stereotypes make good fodder.
California and NY doesn't have a clue because it's really all about the size of their pocketbooks. You can be from anywhere and be anything if you have the right amount of moolah. They also don't have a clue what's really going on anywhere else.

And when did drinking too much get to be any kind of southern thing? Last I looked it didn't discriminate.

As an outsider, I find all Americans equally stupid, but southerners are at least less pretentious and generally seem like a fun bunch to hang out with.
