Believe me I hate this movie more than anyone, but its never a financial failure. Its doing better than Rogue One and the only reason TFA was making so much money was because we hadn't seen a SW movie in a long while.

I agree it's a huge success financially. On the other hand, it's obviously way down from TFA, 2 billion to 1.3 billion, and a very big chunk of that 1.3 billion was from advance sales made on the strength of TFA. Given the fan backlash, Episode IX sales will suffer and I think will end up being Lucasfilm's Justice League.

Yes because EVERYONE in the world went to see TFA because Star Wars hadn't come out in many years and the movie looked really cool. So much hype!
So its logical that it made the money it did. You are right however, that episode 9 will suffer. Because people hated TLJ and won't be hyped to watch episode 9.
Looking at Box Office Mojo comparison chart, I would say its chances of making 1.5 bil is zero. It doesn't look like it has the steam to make it,and since China basically checked out on the movie, its foreign tally isn't going to make up the difference..
