Some Flaws, as Pointed out by a TLJ Admirer

I loved TLJ, but boy did it have its share of flaws. These would have really bothered me if I hadn't liked the film so much, so I was able to forgive them. Here's my short list:

1) Opening Scene - Poe destroys every gun turret on a star destroyer by himself. Really? They're making a laughing stock out of a star destroyer.

2) Finn Subplot - What was the point of that? If you can cut out an entire subplot without affecting the main plot, in the slightest, it needs to go on the cutting room floor.

3) Light Speed into star destroyer - This opens up a can of Deus Ex Machina. You never want to open that can. Why not just do this every time? Instead of sacrificing dozens of pilots against a star destroyer just light speed a cruiser into that ship. Heck, you could even take out a death star that way.

4) Why can't the star destroyer's sensors detect the escaping vessels? Oh, cuz the plot says so.

5) Why aren't the AT-ATs firing on Finn and Rose, especially after their crash. How did they make it back to the base?

I can overlook some technical stuff if the story is good. You're right about the Finn subplot, though. Pointless and boring. The gal who plays Rose is not a good actress. Bring in a good editor, and this could be a great film.

Finn, Rose and Phasma were all pointless. At least Chewy got to fly the Falcon again.
