I thought it was pretty decent

I liked the darker feel to it. It's been a long time since I've read the book, but I felt it captured the feel of it, even with the changes.

for me everything about this movie failed except when it was being what it was originally attended......Fun and family friendly

The only parts I liked was with The Animals, I enjoyed the early scenes with Mowgli interacting with Animals just as much as I did with Disney 2016 Jungle Book Movie...

But the second they tried to take the movie into the "dark, realistic" path...It just failed...

I do not think the movie was bad...just completely unnecessary ...

The fact that the only parts of the movie that worked were the parts that were fun, warm and kid friendly , proves it was a gigantic mistake to try and take a new direction with the story

IMO thats probably the reason why WB had zero confidence in the movie.

I dont think they watched the film and thought it was awful or anything....I just think they clearly saw it was a Creative failure, They movie would not appeal to the audience it needs.

The Jungle Book is family film...this film does not appeal to that audience at all...

I'm sure when they greenlit the movie, the greenlit specifically to appeal to a different audience, The darker take could appeal to new audience, unfortunately the film just didnt even do that well enough...It wasnt good enough or didnt have a definitive darker take to get the New audience in...

In the end, WB was left with a movie that had NO audience really ...It wasn't family friendly enough to bring in Kids...

and wasnt dark enough or good enough to bring in a new crowd.

Thus WB dumped it on Netflix...

Overall 7/10....decent but a giant misfire

7/10 is pretty decent from my point of view.

I think that too many movies shield kids from darker stories. While I'm not sure that there was a need for this movie, I don't think that taking it darker failed. I thought it had more of a similar feel to the stories in the book.

I enjoyed it too, and more than I expected to. No, it's not for little kids, but I happen to be an adult, so it seemed like a movie for me, and I've certainly seen darker films. What I thought it was good at conveying was the sense of danger in a jungle where animals eat each other, which is real, instead of hugs and songs.

The movie did a good job of making me care about certain characters, even minor ones like Bhoot, and it moved at a quick pace too, so I enjoyed the thrill of "what happens next?" When Mowgli brought the fire to drive off Shere Khan, I wanted to cheer him on!
