Land Rover Commercial

The scene in whatever Nordic location they were in (I can't bother to remember now) was just a glorified Land Rover commercial. Bond had his Aston Martin V8, the same one from TLD, just sitting there while they chose to go in a shitty Land Rover instead. That was the most pathetic car chase I have ever seen in an action movie.

He arrived at Madeleine's house in the Aston Martin. The next day they did not take the Aston as they needed a back seat for James's daughter. Also, they were in a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (an older one). They did get chased by baddies in 2 Range Rovers and then the new defenders, so that part of the Land Rover commercial is true... Just like the Nokia commercial

Yes, because when you're fleeing for your life, your priority should be room for a child's seat and not speed. This was a ham-fisted and obvious advertisement.

an advertisement for a 20 year old Toyota ? cuz that's what they drove, I just saw the movie yesterday

I wondered why he didn’t take his own vehicle. The only rationale I could think of was trying to be inconspicuous.

I thought that. Why leave the (probably) bulletproof and weaponised Aston Martin behind. Then it became clear the movie makers wanted the off road chase.

I actually thought that chase was something new and really enjoyed seeing them driving at 90 (too fast anyway) off road.

While we are on the car chases I also loved Bond ducking behind that stone on the bridge. Didn’t see that coming and his expression of “how did I survive that” was priceless.

Where they crossed the river they'd obviously bulldozed the bed to make nice splashy fords and I fell out of the moment wondering what kind of restoration agreement they'd signed up for to be allowed to do that. I'm guessing there was a lot of negotiation and cost.

Camera angles can hide a lot. They may have lined some of the route with boards. I remember hearing when they filmed goldeneye in Moscow they had to line the entire route of the tank scene so it didn’t damage the road.
