Congrats Coco on your Golden Globe win!

Finally some good news for this wonderful film that doesn't have to do with the inflated Chinese box office.

How is it inflated? I truly don't understand the dig at Coco over China? Do you feel it's haul from China is illegitimate or undeserved? Why do you think it is inflated?

Despicable Me 3 did $158 Mil
Transformers TLK did $228 Mil

No...not at all. It sold a lot of tickets and audiences loved it but it's a shame the PROC confiscate 75% of the gross.

The PRC takes whatever the gross % of the total is from all movies produced outside of it's borders. Why is that a shame for Coco?

Because China and Mexico are the only countries where it over performed. Domestically and most other markets have underperformed.

Garbage like DM3 didn't need China at all...it was just gravy and it's budget was tiny compared to Coco's.

Yep, Coco is the clear winner there and probably as well for the Oscar.

At least Ferdinand and The Boss Baby didn't end up beating it. Can you imagine?

I think it was sickening that The Boss Baby was even nominated. Cars 3 actually deserved to be nominated over that crap.

While I do found Cars 3 decent enough, at least moreso than The Boss Baby, I figured either Lego Batman Movie or an anime feature would make for a much stronger contender in their place. But since these award shows tend to not care so much about foreign features even in animation, then Lego Batman should've at least been the next best thing.
