Season 6, So Far

The best season to date. The show has continued go improve season by season, and so far the 6th season is no exception. Having Clark Gregg playing the villain is a fantastic turn, and it's given him a chance to show a whole new set of acting chops. I loved his delivery in the latest episode (ep. 8) when he explained that Izel's motivation was hate, then was asked what motivates him. The paused after "love," and then the punchline, was great.

We'll see how this pans out, but to this point they've built the tension to a fever pitch, and pulled all the loose ends into a knot, as everyone is bearing down on the same spot. I'm very, very curious to learn Sarge and Izel's actual motives and stories, and find out how Sarge and Coulson are linked.

It's entertaining but the writing is a little flim flam. They keep setting up problems and confrontations only to whisk them aside with little effort, present a new difficulty, easily dismissed, one after another, multiple times an episode. There's no stakes or tension involved.

I don't think a lot of the problems and confrontations have been whisked away to be honest I get the feeling there is more at play than is obvious on the surface. For instance Agent Davis falling asleep at the celebration is not what it was being played out to be and the Agent May bit at the end .... well in both instances I believe it was actually Izel in charge not Davis or May.
