Is there anyone who can't be given a job at S.H.I.E.L.D. ???

Just a LOL moment here but think about it.

Agent Coulson and his peers at the super-secret government agency seem to have no problem hiring bank robbers (Bennie and Claire, Item 47) and twenty something derelicts who live in vans down by the river (Skye, Season 1).

Do they use any kind of background checks for minor things like, you know, being a member of a terrorist organization? No wonder HYDRA could take over SHIELD from within. What a stupid way to run a government agency! How does that hiring process go??

Human Resource worker 1 at SHIELD:
"Well Coulson thinks this person would be an asset. So they robbed a few banks or hacked a few computers... That's not so bad, right?"
Human Resource worker 2 at SHIELD:
"If Coulson says so, then it's okalie-dogalie with me! Now let's issue them a sidearm and full clearance."

I know it's a comic book universe but come on. Seriously idiotic!!

[Still trying to ramp myself up to give this show a second try but reminders like this just derail that drive real quick]

I don't remember Bennie and Claire but in skye's case the fact that she could hack into shield (she have super secure computers) from a van down by the river was reason enough to give her a job. It been a while since I seen season 1 but I seem to remener she was not initially trusted.

You see, that's not even logical. I'm sure there are agents of hostile foreign powers who've hacked into our government systems and I don't imagine the CIA or NSA ended up offering them a job. That's like the proverbial "letting a fox in your hen house" cliche.

It's not that unusual for hackers and con artists to wind up working in security.

I thought Coulson knew about Skye /Daisy's background with her mother being inhuman. I always thought he hired her because he knew she wasn't normal

I don't recall that being his reasoning but even if (for argument's sake) it IS true, that still doesn't explain hiring Bennie and Claire to work at SHIELD. It also doesn't justify Coulson's rationale, especially since Skye/Daisy is still a lose cannon.
