Cate B deserved the Oscar. She was wonderful. I think Meryl could've played this were she that age. I also thought of another Aussie, Judy Davis. I think she would've nailed it perfectly as well were she that age. I thought of her role in Woody's Husbands and Wives. She plays neurotic great. Probably Kate Winslet, as well. Anyone else?

When I remember Cate Blanchett's performance in this film, I see Jill Clayburgh in my mind's eye. My mind's teary eye.
It was such a plum role that any of the actresses mentioned would have shined in it but as someone mentioned, the movie has been made and I couldn't imagine anyone else as Jasmine.
