Homecoming as a title

What a shit title. It's absolutely irrelevant to the story. They've always said it's supposed to be a play on the fact that Marvel is the rightful home of Spider-Man, but that doesn't make it a good title in any way. Also Peter skipped the homecoming dance at the end to stop the Vulture, but that's weak as hell even in tandem.

There are two... TWO titles that are so glaringly more obvious that it hurts.
Peter Parker: Spider-Man. A title that ran in the comics for over a decade.
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. A phrase that has been used to describe the character since the beginning.

The entire movie is based around the idea that Peter isn't satisfied being Peter Parker. He wants to be Spider-Man. Time and time again he skips out on being himself to do Spider-Man things. He's not satisfied as Peter, and he's not even satisfied as a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. All he wants is to be an Avenger. In the end, what does he realize? He realizes he's more than satisfied being Peter Parker and being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. That's it. That's the arc of the main character of this movie. How did these titles that are relevant to the history of the character AND spot on to the storyline of the movie get passed on?

As per my original post:
"They've always said it's supposed to be a play on the fact that Marvel is the rightful home of Spider-Man, but that doesn't make it a good title in any way."

I was never a fan of the title.

OHHHH BOY and now we have Far From Home. What goes on in Far From Home?

Peter wants a break after fighting in space and in the final Endgame battle so he doesn't want to help out Mysterio while on vacation. Why, because (and I quote) he wants to be just a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!... Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man!

MJ confronts Peter about being Spider-Man. Spider-Man is revealed to be Peter Parker to the world at the end!... Peter Parker: Spider-Man!

It's like I'm losing my mind over here with how obvious this is!

I believe it was because of the Homecoming Dance mentioned in the film. And Spiderman: Far from home is even easier. They are in Europe, far from home.

Doesn't make em good.

reply

No...a title does not make a film good. The writing, directing and acting, and to a lesser degree, the special effects do. And as far as I am concerned, these two spiderman films captured what was the essence of Spiderman. Some didn't like it. Their opinion...not mine.

I'm not talking about the quality of the movies in even the slightest bit. Just talking about the stupid titles. That's all.
