Even HBO isn’t going to get Perry out of jail.

We knew this was coming, didn’t we? I read that it was $70M a season. I thought in S2 that it would get there - to being Perry Mason - that it would get going - but it was just a troubled attorney during the Depression years who is anything but PM. Our last image of this guy is in jail. And deservedly so. And that’s now how we will forever think of Perry Mason. Serving time, almost disbarred, doesn’t pay property taxes, and is a not-so-good dad. AND his client goes to jail for 30 years. The complete opposite of Perry Mason. Now that is an achievement.

Great film locations tho. Great feel of 30s LA. Great original music score even tho they never used the famous theme until the finale. And the 50s TV series is now showing as available on Prime Video, maybe it always was. Some are in color. Without knowing it, they brought back the original.

Big bummer. Maybe not surprising given the industry today.

I really enjoyed the first season. Haven't caught the second yet. Shea Whigham as 'Pete' is the standout, for sure
