I thought when EB moved the chair that he would hang himself. Perhaps this was a deliberate fake out? A recall a similar scene from Chernobyl. Also the whole story of an older man at the end of his career, feels he has no purpose so he kills himself seems a little too dark and too easy even though this show is dark af. What kind of message would that send? Plus leaving it as a cliffhanger is more evidence that it won't happen bc if they were going to do it they'd prob show his corpse. Plus everyone loves Jon Lithgow on and off screen they want him around even if he's retired EB who sometimes makes am appearance in future seasons. Or they could have gone through with it and he'll be dead next ep. Hope not.

The reason why he tries to kill himself is because the other DISTRICT ATTORNEY who PROSCUTES the MOTHER of the MURDERED BABY threatened to have him DISBARRED if he revealed the TRUTH about how a 4th person was involved in the MURDER of the CHILD.

And the way he was going to do that was to claim EB had STOLEN MONEY from his CLIENTS, which is also why EB has all of those BOXES that contain OLD files from 1913 sitting there all over the place when DELLA comes in wanting him to sign other documents and then gets into a BIG FIGHT with him.

So it's NOT he's at the END of his CAREER as much as it's he's about to be accused of CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR that's behind the reason why he decides to take his life.

PLUS we also saw the BLOOD in the SINK (which may also indicate that he was already about to DIE of TB anyhow which was also a BIG PROBLEM back then).

So what may happen is MASON will figure out WHY he's killed himself or has attempted to do so by going through all of those BOXES with the OLD FILES, and then he'll be PISSED OFF enough to DIG UP DIRT on this other guy who threatened to have EB DISBARRED and have him PROSECUTED.

Because EB also pointed out how EVERYONE had done the same thing as he'd done as a way to stay in BUSINESS (which probably also means this other man did the same thing as well).

And EB also pointed out how he'd also PAID his CLIENTS back ALL of their MONEY with INTEREST again after he'd BORROWED money from them as a way to remain in BUSINESS.

But my guess would be this OTHER GUY DID NOT do that.

PLUS we could also end up having lots of FLASHBACK scenes (like the WW1 scenes we've already seen) that show us what happened, which also means even though EB would be dead we could also still see LITHGOW in many more episodes going forwards.

I'm also thinking PERRY MASON is going to SELL the house of his parents to that other woman so that he can take over and run the LAW FIRM that belonged to EB. Because we also heard the woman he's having the affair with offer to pay PERRY $7,000 for it.

Yes. It’s setting up Perry taking over the firm. He’s apparently going to be in front of a judge in ep6 looking very lawyerly. Does he already have a law degree? Or will we skip ahead a few years for S2?

Ep 5 ends with PERRY having PASSED the BAR EXAM after the ASSITANT DA gave him all of the ANSWERS to it (because the Asst. DA wants to be the DA and take the job away from the OTHER SLEAZY BASTAND who threatened to DISBAR EB).

So PERRY doesn't have a LAW DEGREE, but he's legally and officially an ATTORNEY now, because DELLA also typed up a FAKE DOCUMENT that states that PERRY had been an APPRENTICE to EB , which then qualifies him to be an attorney if he can pass the bar exam (which he did). Plus DELLA also signed the document by placing EB's name on it.

And that's also the reason why we see him standing there taking the OATH at the very end along with several other guys.

So what's going to happen is the ASST. DA is going to help PERRY WIN the case for EMILY, so that the DA will also end up looking like an INCOMPETENT BULLY and FOOL for the way he's MISTREATED an INNOCENT woman. And then the ASST. DA will also take over the job of being the DA, and the other SLEAZY SLIME BALL will be booted out of office.

In other words, there's no need to SKIP AHEAD in time, due to the way Perry's officially an Attorney now, who also has the help of the ASST. DA (who will also help him to defeat the DA ... who drove EB to suicide ... and see to it that EMILY is found innocent).

And it will also be nice to see the SLIME BALL DA getting a NASTY DOSE of his OWN MEDICINE for a change.

Of course that assy DA is none other than Hamilton Burger! (Hubby and I applauded when he said his name.) Not so sleazy... he may be an opponent in the courtroom, but he’s Perry’s pal otherwise. They both fight for justice.

The ASSISTANT DA is the one who is helps PERRY pass the LAW EXAM (by giving Perry the ANSWERS to it beforehand) so that he can be the DA himself.

So he may be fighting for JUSTICE and be Perry's PAL, and he may also be on Perry's side against the current DA, but his MAIN MOTIVATION for helping PERRY is still also his own SELF INTEREST (rather than his interest in helping an INNOCENT woman).

And it's the DA (who drove EB to kill himself and has RAILROADED EMILY) that one meant to say was the SLEAZY one.

Wonder if S2 will be a continuation of the DODSON case or if it will be another BRAND NEW case that has nothing to do with EMILY or the death of her SON???

They’re not going to kill off Hamilton Burger! He’s Perry’s favorite opponent, crucial to the PM universe! That’d be like getting rid of Della Street. I’m just waiting for Lt. Tragg.

I suspect each season will be a different case. Della and Paul Drake will work for Perry, Burger will be DA, Tragg will be homicide cop. Just like it should be!

Well if they find out that he's HELPING PERRY, then maybe someone will at least try and make an ATTEMPT to KILL HIM ???

Because PERRY's also got that other guy ENNIS following him around and threatening to KILL the UNBORN INFANT of the other COP if he helps PERRY.

So one can't see him being willing to put up with BURGER helping PERRY when he doesn't want anyone else helping him !!!

And one also can't see PERRY sitting there in the COURT ROOM defending EMILY without BURGER also needing to be there as a way to help him defend her !!

Because PERRY also doesn't have the KNOW HOW to know how to do this without BURGER's help !!!

So surely that's also going to let ENNIS and the other DA KNOW what's going on???

Unless BURGER can also find some other ATTORNEY to help PERRY???

Can hardly wait to see what happens Tomorrow night !!!
