It seems like almost all new movies are totally devoid of any reality

In the quest to insulate people from reality to create the new citizen, Hollywood seems to work super hard at removing any real history from its true stories, to make movies about monsters and superheroes, science fiction or fantasy, but with no relationship to reality or any kind of real science. Are they trying to make people stupid?

You mean John Wick isn't a real person and he didn't actually shoot all those bad guys for stealing his car and killing his dog !?

That's why it pays to 'balance your diet' with independent and foreign cinema film releases.

Consuming junk food all the time isn't healthy for anyone...
