Did this unnecessary sequel damage the entire franchise forever?

Seems the magic that’s always been associated with the original 3 Toy story movies is gone since this film’s release.
The logical reason for this is Toy Story 3 was the perfect wrap up for close to a decade and people were prepared to re-live the adventure in total, almost perpetually. Any new audience will inevitably watch Toy Story 4 and fall off the journey without the desire to experience it again which really has kept Toy Story alive until this point.
Toy Story 4 may not be such a bad film but in context it appears to have de-railed the Toy Story universe and sent it over a cliff.

I like Toy Story 4. It’s not as good as the first 3 but in some ways it makes the series feel more complete/full circle.

reply

Well it made a lot of money and they are already planning a 5th episode so no.

reply

no no please not a fifth no no no no

reply

It did not.

reply

I don't see how it damaged anything. If you didn't like it just ignore that movie and call part 3 the real ending.

reply

Not if everyone pretends Toy Story 4 doesn’t exist.
